Meet Dr. Derderian
Christopher Derderian, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Derderian specializes in craniofacial surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He practices at both UT Southwestern and Children’s Health Dallas. He is an expert in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. At Children’s Health in Dallas, he treats pediatric patients with congenital deformities such as cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, craniofacial microsomia, and microtia. In his adult practice at UT Southwestern, Dr. Derderian performs both cosmetic surgery and reconstructive procedures. He has been named one of the top plastic surgeons in Dallas by D Magazine on multiple occasions.
Dr. Derderian completed his undergraduate and medical education at Boston University where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Honor Society. He received his plastic surgery training at the New York University Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, where he also served as executive chief resident. After completing his plastic surgery training, Dr. Derderian dedicated and additional year of fellowship training in Craniofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He received his board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2012.
Dr. Derderian has traveled extensively to make presentations on his surgical research at medical conferences around the world. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery, the Dallas County Medical Society, and the Texas Medical Association and serves on committees for several national societies. He also serves as a reviewer for several plastic surgery journals.
Dr. Derderian has authored chapters on reconstructive plastic surgery in numerous textbooks, and his research has been published in several peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, the Annals of Plastic Surgery, the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Derderian is married to Dr. Courtney Derderian, a pediatric anesthesiologist, and they have two children, Claire and Corinne. During his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys golf, biking and cooking.
